The Cutera XEO LimeLight produces all wavelengths and therefore the colour. An attached filter only lets specific wavelengths through, thus making it a multi-application skin-treatment machine. Once the required filter is applied, the light is directed at its target colour (e.g. red for blood). When it reaches its target, light is absorbed and is converted to heat which destroys the targeted cells.
What is LimeLight treatment?
LimeLight treatment is an advanced, gentle approach to skin rejuvenation using Cutera XEO’s LimeLight. This treatment is great for any parts of your face and neck with skin redness, brown spots or tiny veins. Brown spots are previously known to be very difficult to resolve but they can be easily treated with Cutera’s LimeLight. When the LimeLight is applied to your skin, it will gently heat up and treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas.
What does it feel like?
When the Cutera LimeLight hits your skin, you will feel a slight pinching or stinging sensation. A gel is strongly recommended to cool the skin before the treatment. However, anaesthesia or pain-relief medicine is typically not required.
How long is the treatment and how often do I need it? The treatment time can depend on the area of the body treated but most treatments take less than an hour. In addition, usually, one to three treatments are sufficient to see visible results. For sun damaged skin, additional treatments may be required.
What happens after the treatment?
After the treatment, the brown spots will start to darken and your skin will appear slightly red. Also, the treated area may be slightly swollen. However, all this usually lasts anywhere between a few hours to a day. To cover the redness, you can apply makeup.
Over time, new brown spots, telangiectasia (tiny veins) and redness may appear with new sun damage. However, they can be treated easily. Always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when heading outside to minimise the appearance of the new spots, redness and sun damage.
When will I see the results?
The darkened spots will flake off and fade within a few weeks (one to three weeks usually). Diffuse redness or tiny veins will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve gradually.
