Microdermabrasion, sometimesknown as “derm”, “MDA” or “microderm”, is a Professional strength treatment, where the dead outermost surface of the skins Epidermis is partially or completely removed by light abrasion. This ensures efficient exfoliation in a gentle, non-invasive manner while the applied suction clears away the dead cells and congestion, stimulates the blood supply while increasing your skin cells turnover.

At About Skin we use the Diamond Oxy Derm brand of microdermabrasion machine known to be the best of its kind! The Oxy Derm provides three different approaches to microdermabrasion skin resurfacing: traditional white crystals, Organic and Flower Grains, and the Crystal Free Diamond Head Wand. It also provides Oxygen infusion therapy, a great addition to skin care technology.

When you infuse the skin with Liquid Oxygen either after microdermabrasion or, as a stand alone treatment, the result is a glowing renewed complexion. It’s a fact that by the age of 30 skin has already lost over 25% of its oxygen and by age 40 – 50 the skins ability to consume and retain oxygen has been impaired. This loss of oxygen results in more wrinkles, fine lines and dull looking skin. This can be countered by O2 infusions, especially when done on an ongoing basis.

Oxygen Therapy is suitable for all skin colours and types, and a course of 4 treatments are recommended.

Microdermabrasion improves:

  • Skin Texture
  • Uneven skin colour
  • Dull or dry patches
  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Rough, thick or dry skin
  • Clogged pores and blackheads
  • Large pores, fine lines, sun spots and age spots

We normally ask you to prepare your skin for 2-4 weeks prior to your treatment. Pre-treatment strengthens the skin, prepares it for the best possible treatment result and also firms the basis of your ongoing skin care routines. After all, once you have improved your skin you will want to maintain it as long as possible.
